Hair Loss Or Gain

A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi. I was diagnosed with Classical Hodgkin's Lymphoma and doing BV+AVD treatments. I was losing so much hair, that by the 2nd or 3rd treatment, I shaved it off. But, my hair started to grow back soon after, while still going through chemo rounds. I used to have thick hair, now it's kind of thin. Not complaining or anything but I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this and will it get thicker? Should I try using products like Biotin or castor oil to aid in the regrowth? (I'm off chemo… read more

I shaved my hair as well. It started coming in before chemo was finished. I had slightly wavy fine ash blonde but getting hair. Now, I have thick, platinum, very wavy hair. You don’t really know what you will get back. They say say the crown is the last to thicken up. I see my scalp slightly on the sides and back but it will take quite awhile before our hair grows in.

Chinch14, I have shaved my hair twice due to chemo. I take Biotin & I use the Jamaican Castrol oil & it truly helps me.

I'm on very low dose chemo and haven't experience hair loss, but it has thinned out and I shed like crazy. My niece was on chemo for breast cancer and started loosing clumps in the shower; she did what you did-shaved it off. Her hair grew back and the texture was different. She had very wavy hair and it came back straighter and thinner. Over time it went back closer to what it had been The same with some other friends that went through chemo; other friends the texture never did go back to what it had been.. It just depends on you and how your body reacts to the drugs.
