SMZL Medical Oncologist Or Hematologist

A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Philippines

I’m 87 with SMZL and being treated with Ibrutinib 560mg daily dose. My question is would a medical oncologist be recommended to monitor my care?

Hi Walter,
Did an oncologist prescribe the Ibrutinib? I have read about it.
I am 69 and have extra nodal and nodal MZL. The oncologist said
he may have me take the oral medication, zanaubrutinib. It is the latest FDA approved. I have a pet scan in April.
Yes, you do need to see an oncologist, I feel, whose specialty is lymphoma. I see a neuro oncologist and a lymphoma specialist. The first growth was on my forehead so a neuro Dr sees me every 3 months with an mri
since it was near my brain…
Take care,
