Calquence Or Venclexta? Pros And Cons Of Each Treatment?
My friend is recently diagnosed with CLL (as am I although I’m still on Watch and Wait). His dr is recommending treatments for him and he’s trying to decide these two treatment plans. Any advise about them would be appreciated.
Thank you.
None of you have muscle pain. Sometimes I can barely walk.
Hi Jill,
I took Venclexta for one year 2020-2021 along with 4 infusion treatments of Obinutuzumab. As I be mentioned I am in remission now. Yes, you have to drink 56oz of water daily, for me that was the worst of it and so grateful to be in remission.
I believe the reason we all do “watchful waiting” as long as the lymph nodes stay fairly small and grow slowly no need to treat. However, if the lymph nodes grow large and press on any organs it becomes a problem. Fortunately, the chemo meds have improved greatly and work really well for NHL.
P.S. Wait as long as possible to receive chemo as there are side effects, especially our white blood cells depleting and making it harder for our immune system to fight off infections. Hence, I am currently, on immunotherapy infusions twice a month to help my white blood cell count and fight infections.
I will have to do infusions for the rest of my life. But hey, I’m still here and feeling great!!! Hope this helps!
Happy New Year and keep the spirit!
I’m on calquence and my wbc dropped like a rock. The only side effects I have are very sore muscles
