Does Non Hodgkin's Or Marginal Zone Lymphoma Lead To Anemia?

A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Alabama

I have been diagnosed with marginal zone lymphoma, non Hodgkin's. I currently diagnose with anemia. Extensive test done and no bleeding found. Could lymphoma be the reason?

Hi Neme, yes, yes, and yes! I have been in treatment for 3 yrs for follicular non Hodgkin's and am always anemic. Not enough to get blood transfusions, nut my worse problem is my platelet count. Its always extremely to frugally low. Of course anemia causes fatigue, so rest of nap whenever you are tired! Don't fight it. If your oncologist isn't worried, you are ok! Good luck my friend.

Hi Nene, Yes, I had anemia from the MZL lung. I had a colonoscopy and EGD done, all okay. I had 2 infusions of iron. Counts came up but are right on the line of being low. I start chemo again in 2 weeks, rituximab and bendamustine. Last rituximab was in December 2021, mass shrunk some, then grew again on May scan. I'm afraid I will get anemic again from the bendamustine.

Ruthann..Thank you for your reply!
After many months of blood infusion off and on..Currently doing great! Only taking an iron supplement now 3 times a week which seems to hold off the anemia so far🙏and lymphoma is clear. Thanking God every day!
Stay well my friend🙏

Hello Vonnie!! As you mentioned, I'm not online as much either. Busy catching up enjoying life after last 3 years of illness . 😊
So happy to hear you are doing good! I'm feeling good and anemia under control as of now. Doctors just can't find reason for it. 😳
Thank you for your reply..stay well sweet friend. ❤️🙏

Hi Neme
Sorry I haven't been on line in awhile. I had anemia when I was first diagnosed with DLBCL in 2021. I had 2 blood infusions in the hospital one before surgery and one after. I'm still in remission however my counts finally look really good. Seems like even without cancer alot of people have low iron. I've heard the supplements make you constipated! Yikes
While all my counts look really good, here 2 years later I'm still tired alot. I guess since I don't nap every day like before, it is getting better, however I still have to nap 2-3 times a week.
Wishing you healing! Vonnie
