Members shared varied experiences with rashes appearing during or after lymphoma treatment, with some finding they were unrelated to cancer (such as age-related sensitivity or reactions to soaps) while others discovered connections to autoimmune conditions like lupus or Sjögren's syndrome that required dermatologist biopsies and rheumatology follow-up. Several members described persistent rashes and hives that developed after chemotherapy, particularly following Rituxan and Bendamustine, often accompanied by coughing and managed with limited success through daily antihistamines, prescription ointments, or oral medications. A recurring theme was the importance of consulting both oncologists and dermatologists to rule out serious causes, trying over-the-counter options first, and recognizing that rashes are unfortunately common among cancer patients even when the exact cause remains unclear.

I have a rash and I don't think it's related to the cancer. My oncologist scheduled an appointment with a dermatologist who said it was related to age and an allergic reaction to certain soaps. It seems the older we get the more prone we are to such reactions. The dermatologist gave me a prescription for a cream that cleared the rash right up.

I had rashes..my oncologist told me I probably was a diabetic..I knew he was wrong..so I took matters in my own hands and went to a dermatologist in which he took 3 biopsies and it turned out to be timid lupus which means external lupus..I did see a rheumatologist and he did extensive bloodwork..confirmed the lupus and sjorgens..the sjorgens I knew I had it..the sjorgens is what caused the lymphoma..get it checked out..just for piece of mind.
