Is It True That Cancer Likes Sugar? How Does This Play A Role In My Daily Dietary Outcome? Should I Assist The Help Of A Nutritionist?
My oncologist (also my hero!) did not restrict my sugar intake. Especially during treatment, she said it was very important consume enough calories to maintain or even gain a bit of weight in fighting off the cancer. The challenge after enjoying bags and bags of Milano cookies during treatment was to cut back after achieving remission! I've been in remission from Stage 2B DLBCNHL for over 6 years, maintaining my pre-cancer weight!
Actually, you need to do a little bit more research because sugar does feed certain cancer cells.
(Sugar feeds good cells and bad ones)
My oncologist says there is no relationship between sugar and cancer. Still, too much sugar, particularly added sugar, can certainly cause weight gain and contribute to an unhealthy gut.
ElsieKessler,
Hi! I've cut out sugar. I cut out coffee, alcohol, and soda. I had DLBCL and had treatments of RCHOP chemo. I've been in remission for 2 1/2yrs. Kelly
