Claud,
Hi! I had RCHOP chemo. I had DLBCL. Everyone is different in how they react to their chemo. But I can tell you my experience. I was sick the night of my treatments. I was nauseated for the next couple of days. Then it started getting better. Make sure your husband takes his antinausea med on time. Don't skip. I even set my alarm in the middle of the night so I didn't skip a dose. Make sure he stays hydrated. I would drink water all day throughout my treatments also. And I tried to eat something also. Anything with protein. I ate peanut butter on a bagel to at least get something in me. Rest when he can. I would recommend that he joins a support group. Check with your social worker at the infusion center. The support group sure has helped me. I've been in remission for 2 1/2years. Also, I had constipation with RCHOP. I took Colace daily also. You can get that OTC. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Kelly

This is a very common first line treatment. He will lose his hair and feel poorly through the 2nd week of the cycle and then better the 3rd week. But each cycle can be slightly different. Staying active and walking is very important. Rest /nap but not too much because inactivity can lead to blood clots. Try to live as normally as possible.

I’ve been through 3 rounds of choep. The first day and morning after the first day seem to be the hardest for me. Mostly a headache, fatigue, and feeling nauseous. For me it seems to lessen the 2-3 days of the cycle as I’m only getting one drug plus the steroid that day. The biggest thing is just being tired and the bone aches if they give you the shot on the 4th day. But those bone aches have been minor for me. Feeling lethargic a few days after that and good right about the week you go into your next round. Best of luck and get ready for that chemo bathroom smell of sulfur that blows. Prayers to you and your family through this difficult time.
