I'm Been Indolent Since 2020. FEB. Anyone Else Watching And Waiting?
I was diagnosed with Mantle Cell in November 2022 and have been on W&W with blood work every 3 months and a scan every 6 months. In October 2023 my oncologist wrote in her notes that I am getting closer to needing treatment. My spleen is enlarged, I am feeling bloated, my platelets have dropped to 100, and my lumps have increased (the ones under my arm pits are about the size of golf balls). Aside from some mild fatigue in the afternoon I feel good. I am hopeful the W&W continues. Although Mantle Cell is incurable, it is treatable in most cases so I think I will be around for a long time.
I’m 76 years old and have been watch and wait since I was 61!! And I’ve been stage 4 since I was diagnosed! My doctor said it would be hard mentally for me and at times it is. Most people don’t understand!
It's kind if difficult for me, to know I've got this and not doing anything about it. Yet, I'm relieved every check up when my Dr says.. all ok not much change.
Yes I had stage 3 Diffused NHL. Beat that in 2011. Low grade came back in 2021. Beat that mostly with Rituximab maintenance for 2 years. In remission again.
I was diagnosed Oct 2019, W&W til treatment Apr-May 2021, remission til now. Await CT scan & labs next month. Hope for more W&W. But I cannot say I feel as well as I was before this happened, Still grateful to be here with loved ones.
Can Someone Explain The "watch And Wait" Reasoning For Treatment?
