Is There Anyone Else On Our Lymphoma Website With SLL And Has A History Of Eating Several Bags Of Microwave Popcorn Daily Or Lots?
Thank you, Laurie
Thank you for your response, Laurie. I feel certain that the microwave popcorn is the basis for my SLL, although there is no definitive cause. But ingesting anything toxic sets us up for this condition. I went in for my annual breast exam and the radiologist who read the results noticed that I had a lymph node that appeared swollen. They did a biopsy and diagnosed SLL. A few years prior, I had tests done for a swollen node on my neck, but the radiologist then felt it was a result of a sinus issue which I consistently struggle with. That node continues today to be swollen but has never grown larger. Since my first visit to MD Anderson, none of the identified nodes have increased in size. Tuesday, Feb. 27, I go back to MD Anderson for monitoring. I hope those nodes continue to be stable. I have few symptoms: mild sweating, some fatigue, and shortness of breath with chest burning when I walk too fast or too far; but, I continue to live my life as I have always done slowing down if I feel I need to on any particular day. I stay socially involved participating in several organizations and doing volunteer work. On the whole, I feel pretty good and work hard to keep a positive attitude. Keeping close to the Lord has helped me tremendously. Thank you, my Lord and my God for all your blessings!
Judy thank you for reaching back to me. My symptoms are mild, mostly not sleeping and get I get tired easily but not really fatigue. I too stay very active and grateful it's not worse. I am missing chromosome 13q, and was told that this can be good in my prognosis. Yes my prayers help me stay grateful it's not worse. May you continue to have peace and sending prayers that you have positive news this week. 🙏❤️
Yes, I have over the years eaten a lot of microwave popcorn.
I am curious on how your lymphoma was discovered? I am much older, 69, and my PC doctor found lymph nodes swollen in my collar bone area on a routine examine. Blood work was not abnormal. Other than several lympth nodes in my upper body swollen, my only sysmptone are not sleeping well, and tired, but not really fatigue. However I try to still exercise daily and stay as active as possible.
Thank you for reaching out and sending many hugs and Blessings to you!
Thanks Bonnie. But, I am not asking because of a craving. I am very interested in how many other people with CLL/SLL has a history of eating microwave popcorn, especially since it hit the market. I discovered the bags were lined with PFAS (Perfluoroalkyls and Polyfluoroalkyl, toxic substances) which leached into the snack during popping. During graduate school, microwave popcorn was part of my steady diet.
