Can A Sinus And Respiratory Infection Show Up On Cancer Scan With Two Swollen Lymph Nodes In Pelvic Area Be My Lymphoma Is Back After 6 Yr?

A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am getting a pet scan on Jan 24 to see if my lymphoma is back after six yr cancer free. I had a sinus and respiratory infection when I had my cancer scan done, it might be that my lymph nodes were swollen due to me being sick with a sinus and respriratory infection. I am worried and just waiting to see. Any one ever hear of that?

Lymph nodes swell when the body has an infection. I had yearly sinus infections until past August when B cells were destroyed by Rituxan along with cancerous B cells (Marginal Non Hopkins Lymphoma). Infection symptoms are immune cells attacking - with no cells, no symptoms I believe. My go-to response to sinus infection is a Z-pack. Heals it in one week. Prescribed by my GP every time I’ve had one. This is a possibility but I would contact GP.
