Starting BR Treatment Soon. Do Most People Use A Port And If So, Is It Worn Throughout The Therapy Duration?
I'm glad I have the port because my veins are all worn out due to all the blood tests
My husband really didn't want a port so his oncologist agreed to let him begin B&R without it. His veins were easy to access and he had no real issues. That said the Bendamustine is very hard on the veins. An additional bag of fluid to run with it seems to help. Best of luck with your treatment whichever way you decide to go.
Your Dr will do what's called a port flush on one of your Dr visits generally every 3-4 mths. The port so much better than getting stuck in the arm.
I had two days a month of iv for six months without a port. Oncologist daid he preferred no port because of possible complications- as long ss the viens held up. I was blessed that this plan worked for me as i did not want a port.
Mine too and fixing to start R Gem Ox soon.😒
