My First Older Oncologist , Said It’s Not Curable But Manageable. My New One Says That’s Not True I Am In Remission Almost Two Years

AnnettaHurleyJutila,
I have/had DLBCL stage IV and see a Dr at Cleveland Clinic. She is a hematology oncologist. She said that it can be cured. If I get to 5 yrs she can say that I have as much chance of getting lymphoma as anyone else in the US. I've been in remission for 3 yrs. I have a Local oncologist that said something similar. Congratulations on your remission. Kelly
It might be because the avg age of 1st diagnosis keeps going higher. If you are diagnosed in your mid 70's, and go 10 yrs before relapsing, at mid 80's, we are over the avg life span. I am already past the avg life span. I get occasional night sweats, but I have a lot of energy and feel great. I was diagnosed at 62 and again at 76.
I am at Barrows in Phoenix, AZ and he says after 3 years he feels it’s over also
God bless you- well- He certainly has, hasn’t he? 😊🙌🏻
I went 14 yrs before I relapsed after being treated 2 yrs ago. 2008 I had stage 4 Follicular. 2 yrs ago my biopsy showed 3 kinds, Follicular was the main, marginal zone, also smoldering myeloma.
Can Someone Explain The "watch And Wait" Reasoning For Treatment?
