Zanubrutinib (Brukinsa) Is Used To Treat WM. Since My Only Symptom Is CRF Would I Benefit By Taking Brukinsa Before The Onset Of Symptoms?

A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am 83 years old and until three (3) years ago I was in relatively good health for my age and only taking blood pressure medicine. Then, I was diagnosed with Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia (WM) three (3) years ago. I have been in Watch and Wait for the last three (3) years, have not had any treatments and my only known symptom is cancer related fatigue (CRF), which gets extreme if I don't limit and keep track of my physical activity. Thank you for writing, Francie!

I, too, am willing to continue "watch and wait" despite the ups and downs associated with cancer related fatigue.

My MD says research is underway which may improve Brukinsa by eliminating some of its side effects, a potential benefit of waiting.

In the meantime, I think I am starting with neuropathy in my left foot. Is your neuropathy related to WM and may I ask how you are addressing it?

Best regards,
Tom10

Hi Tom10,
To answer your question about my neuropathy. It started several years ago in my feet. Numbness, tingling, electrical shocks, burning. It bothered me mostly at night. I started Gapapentin 900mg at night. This has really helped. Now, the only thing that is constant is the numbness in my feet. Hope this helps!
I’m going to put you on my team. We WMers need to stick together.

Hi Tom10,
I am 85 yo, have WM and am in the “watch and wait “ period also. My only symtoms are itchy skin, peripheral neuropathy and fatigue. I have elected to continue without tx until symtoms get so bad it really affects my quality of life. At this point they are tolerable. My MD says she will use Brukinsa to treat as well. Don’t think this answers you question.
Many blessings to you,
Francie
