A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I found out I had follicular lymphoma in my right groin in February 2021. In Dec 2021, I had a CT scan and found a small lymph in my right armpit. I am on watch & wait with no symptoms. I had a mammogram last week& need to do a follow up on the right breast. I am nervous. what others did watch and wait and at what point was it changed to treatment. My doc said that I wouldn't need chemo, and if the groin lymph node got bigger, they would do radiation. But not sure if that changes with lymph… read more

Hi Markap. I had a similar start to diagnosis. Marginal cell nhl found in right groin and lymph nodes in left breast. In 2019. I was also told I would get radiation if groin lymph node got bigger. Then enlargement of breast lymph nodes found around same time on mammogram. Was on watch and wait until I was symptomatic. Then I had chemo and immunotherapy and have been in remission 3 1/2 years. I feel very blessed and feel well. I will be thinking of you and will keep you in my prayers. Anne

Watch and wait is very common with Follicular Lymphoma. I was diagnosed in 2019 with Stage 3 Grade 1-2 NHFL. Because I was symptomatic, they went ahead and gave me 4 doses of Rituxan; once per week for four weeks. I have been in remission since. FL is slow-growing and the major consideration is risks vs. benefits of treatment. It has taken me 4 years to learn to live with my diagnosis instead of it causing me to live in constant fear. It is scary at first because you’ve just been told you have cancer and it seems that no one is overly concerned except those of us who receive the news. Just do your best not to freak out. Take one step at the time. I am here for you. I am walking the same the same walk.
God Bless.

Briefly…I had follicular lymphoma and went on watch and wait until it transformed into double expressor diffused large B cell lymphoma and then I started chemo and reached remission. Two years later, the follicular lymphoma returned and I had immunotherapy treatment. I’ve been in remission for 6 months now. Check out my story and my updates for the details. Let me know if you have questions.
I wish you all the best!
