How Quickly Do You See The Oncologist Once You Get Your Biopsy Results?
If your subtype is presenting as very serious, your oncologist should fit you in within a few days. Otherwise, within a few weeks is probably the norm. Have you been given your lymphoma type at least over the phone? Wishing you the very best!
I think NJNana’s answer is helpful. My diagnosis of non-Hodgkin’s diffuse large B cell lymphoma took several biopsies and a long time to get. So some of my diagnostic team (pulmonologists, lung surgeon, spleen/general surgeon) talked to my oncologist to get me seen while awaiting biopsy results, so she could plan for what seemed the most likely outcome, and start treatment asap.
Good luck
Fortunately there are many effective treatments for lymphomas and researchers continue to find more. My best advice is to ask as many questions you have. If you have a family member or friend available, take to your appointments for extra ears and to take notes. Hoping those with your type of lymphoma reach out here.
I have Hodgkin lymphoma and doing well. Hope all works out well for you once you've seen your oncologist and able to proceed.
I don’t know yet. But after my recent investigation it was very fast that they wanted to see me again. With my other cancer (brain tumour) I get to see my oncologist on the same day after the MRI. I once asked if this was an option, and he said of course. The NHS standard in the UK is 2 weeks ..
I got my results as soon as my Oncologist got them and had an appointment scheduled within a couple of weeks. I considered myself lucky…. Steve
