What Level Of IgG (immune Globulin) In The Blood Warrants Ig Replacement Therapy?

A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Sacramento, CA

I am on Rituxan maintenance therapy and Rituxan infusions cause my igG levels to fall below normal. Immune globulin (antibodies) protect you from infection. Normal range is 700 to 1600 and my level is currently 399. My doctor is holding back on approving ivig therapy even though I just had another Rituxan infusion. When is low igG too low? Does anyone have experience with this problem?

When my IgG go below 500 I get the IVIG Infusion. It usually bumps it up to 700 or higher….
Sometimes I get two of the IVIG Infusions. After 2 IVIG Infusions it went up to 1,700…

Yes I'm at odds with my oncologist about what a normal IGg should be. The whole department considers 400 to be adequate which isn't even normal on the lab results - around 700 is.
So I'm consulting with an Immunologist now. See her this Thursday.

Pamela, please let me know what the immunologist says when you see her. I plan to request to see my oncologist in person to discuss since messaging him didn't get me the answers I was looking for. I will use what I learn here to discuss with him. Last year he approved ivig when my IgG number fell below 500 but somehow is not doing that this time.

2nd opinions are useful, the oncologist has his opinion, others might differ.
