How Long After Chemo Would You Wait To Have Cataract Surgery? Oncologist Said 4 Weeks Post-chemo, But Aren’t My Eyes Still Changing So Soon?

A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Houston, TX

I just finished R-CHOP for DLBCL (lymphoma) and have a cataract that presented during chemo due to high-dose prednisone. Debating when to have the surgery; it’s already hard to read and I can’t drive at dusk or after dark until I get it fixed (it’s really cloudy now). Don’t cataracts improve/change once you’re off chemo/steroids? Oncologist approved 4 weeks post-chemo. Ophthalmologist is full speed ahead asap, but I’m a bit risk-adverse. Anyone with experience here?

Hi Karen
That's a tough one, however from what I've heard, today's cataract surgery is SO MUCH BETTER! Much easier.
If you feel well enough, go for it. Prayers and hugs.
