I Would Love To Hear From Anyone Who Has Gone Through The Car T Cell Therapy. I Am Beginning The Process Now. Any Information Is Appreciated

I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymph Phoma five years ago. I’ve never gone into remission and I’ve had multiple kinds of chemo and immunotherapies
Last PET scan showed aggressive progression of disease.

I agree with @A MyLymphomaTeam Member, there is a lot of information to digest, and your doctor's approach and experience is the best source for understanding expectations. For what it's worth, this is my experience:

I had CAR-T for stage IV DLBCL that pola-R-CHP didn't quite handle. (Turns out, there were some double hit cells that were in the minority). It was an intense couple of months of pre-treatment tests and bridging treatments, and then the actual treatment took me out for a month, which is on the high-end of side effects, they tell me. by that I mean, a hospital stay with the expected CRS and neurotoxicity and then a few weeks of regaining a functional level of strength after. I'm almost to 90 days - my hair fell out (again) after but is regrowing just fine, and I'm still pretty tired, which is partly from the CAR-T, and partly from a long year of chemo, bedrest, etc.

It was very useful that I had a doctor/team that was very organized, good communicators, very supportive. They had all kinds of requirements for the treatment - make sure you understand and can comply with them if at all possible. Good team of carers outside the hospital is a big advantage - I had a hard time even getting a meal, and of course couldn't drive. I was hospitalized for 10 nights because of neurotoxicity, and I wish I had someone with me during that time that could keep detailed track of what went on, because I have 5 days of memory loss and have no idea what went on during that time. When I left the hospital I needed assistance walking and needed to regain a lot of coordination, but that came back pretty quickly. This was all because of YesCarta - a CAR-T product that they say hits hard and fast (it sure did!) compared to the other brands. It was worth it - my 30-day PET was clean. Headed for a 90 day scan in a week or two.

Good luck with your treatment! I hope it all goes very well.

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes I have been doing a lot of research. I think I’m most concerned about the side effects. it sounds like you had good success with it which is fantastic

I hope everything goes well with your Car T immunotherapy. I had it done in March 2023 here at The James Cancer Center. There is a lot of information to comprehend about the process and recovery. Hoping that you’ll be in remission soon! 🙏🏻💪
