Hello, I Was Told On Monday That I Have DLBCL. If Anyone Can Give Experiences With R- Chop Treatment I Would Greatly Appreciate.

Not all my test are back so I don't know stages just yet. I am 65 and wonder if I can survive this? Thank you

Hi! I’m 29 and finished 6 cycles of rchop chemo for dlcbl last June. You won’t feel the side effects of the treatment until about a week after your first cycle. After that, take it easy. My first cycle was the worst for me bc my body was adjusting to the medicine. Once you become adjusted, it gets easier to handle. I lost my sense of taste for the week of chemo and the week following, but it came back the third week - before I had to start my next cycle of chemo. I also was VERY hungry and had a lot of cravings from the prednisone so prepare to actually gain weight lol. You will probably feel nauseus but as long as you stay on top of your nausea meds, you should be ok. I typically took 2 every 4-5 hours. This helped a lot. I slept often and didn’t over exert myself - give yourself time to rest and don’t force yourself to do activities if you don’t have the energy. I feel like the word Chemo and cancer are more daunting than they actually are. It’s very manageable, just keep your attitude positive and know that it may suck right now but it’s all going to be better by the end of it! Everyone gets sick, our treatment just sucks a little more than others lol if you have any concerns or pains, call your doctors and tell them right away and they should be able to help you. If you are taking the Lapelga or grastofil injections, use antihistamines to help with the pain. I opted for grastofil injections over 5 days because it was much easier to handle the bone pain rather than Lapelga which was one huge dose. Take warm baths with epsom salt and heating pads if your bones really ache. I also found extra strength Tylenol helped a LOT. Even more than the hydromorphs I was prescribed lol

All in all, you will fight through it 😊 take it easy on yourself and your energy, relax and talk to your doctors if you have any concerns at allll even if you think they’re small or stupid. Good luck 😊

I had RCHOP 21 6 cycles and as long as you follow what the NP tells you in your meeting you will be ok.
Take the nausea meds stay on top of that even if you don’t feel nauseous stay on top try to eat something even when you’re not hungry and definitely stay hydrated because you will have dry mouth. Rest when you need to. I was 59 when I went through my treatment and I will tell you I lost my hair right after the first cycle. You’ll be OK🙏🏻
