WM is not curable, but you can be in a point of remission never cured--YET. I suggest to find more information you put some time going through the IWMF.com (International Waldenstroms Macroglobulinemia Foundation) site. A large portion of information is there. Webinars, free material to download or request mailings that explain labs, What is Waldenstroms, and more. There is a list of Specialists and if you email the site people, they can ALSO direct any request for a local hematologist/oncologist with EXPERIENCE in WM that is closest to where you live or where you can travel to.

Plan on spending some time, as you delve into the information. There is so very much old, scary information out there that has been proven wrong. And being so rare there might be 1-3 people in a million. And only 3 sentences in any medical books that drs. don't know about the lymphoma. You will live WITH WM, and die of something else. And you could live for another 30 years or even more as so many new findings are being put to treatment and more.

I have been following IWMF.com since I was first diagnosed. The information they provide is so valuable to understanding WM. Based on this I am traveled to the Dana Farber in Boston to meet with a WM specialist. His recommendations have been followed by my local oncologist. The research on WM is evolving quickly as are the treatment options. It is important to stay informed and advocate for yourself.

Waldenstrom's (WM) or lymphoplasmacitia lymphoma may go into remission but it never goes away permanently. It may or may not return after years...

Thank you for your information regarding WM. Every bit of information I can accumulate is helpful to those of us with this diagnosis. But new discoveries are made everyday. So to those of my fellow patients with this affliction, don’t despair—CookiesMom has helped to bring hope and encouragement to us!
