The Protocol For DLBCL Is 6 Rounds Of RCHOP, However He’s Gone Into Total Remission After 3 Cycles.
A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

He was diagnosed as stage 3 but is in complete remission after half the chemo, is there any reason he would do more than 4 cycles? It seems crazy that he would pump those chemicals into his body when there’s no sign of disease just because it’s protocol. I can’t find any research regarding this.

I probably had remission by 2nd treatment. Oncologist recommended all 6 treatments to eradicate any microscopic cancer cells.. I did it …now in remission . It’s a voice one makes…I try to listen to specialists they know more than I do…all the best

I quit after 5 chemo for lympho proliferitive disease. The 6th would have killed me. Why not have 7 or 8 treatments to be really sure you killed all cancer cells?

They usually have you complete the cycle to make sure they get it all. Some microscopic remains will not show up on a pet scan as explained by my doctor.

CandaceMaherWalsh,
Hi! I too have/had DLBCL stage IV and had treatments of RCHOP chemo too. I also was in remission after 3 treatments. However, I absolutely finished my 6 rounds of treatments. I did exactly what my Dr recommended. I've been in remission for 3 yrs. I know it's difficult and rough, but I followed both Dr's opinion and advice. (I have two oncologists, one locally and one at Cleveland Clinic) I hope your husband is feeling well. Kelly
